About the image Fist of Furry

The cover of Marcel’s successful photo book Shop Cats of China, published globally by the renowned art book publisher Thames & Hudson, the photo Fist of Furry not only features a beautiful cat with an intense feline stare but also a typical low wooden stool often seen on Chinese streets.

The photograph was taken in Guangzhou, China, set against a background of texture and
weathering that refers back to the subject matter of Marcel’s fine art series Residue.
