Stefanie Hauger

Born in Germany and brought up in London, before a move to Singapore 32 years ago, Stefanie spent her entire life in creative industries. She is an interior architect, luxury homewares retailer, curator and arts event manager, award-winning painter (UOB Painting of the Year 2013 & 2019), features writer and photographer. 

Her fine art practice is informed by colour first and foremost, followed by rhythm and tension. The ability to destroy, and then create again differently, also forms the basis for much of her creative work. 

She is the founder of Hauger Play, another artistic venture born out of deep respect for the creative process. By breaking down works of art into small puzzle pieces she aims to help puzzlers dive deep into an artist’s mind and study the minute details of their work, something she considers a privilege in a world where artwork should not be touched.

About the image Studio Cabinet No.1

Artists’ studios are often filled with random debris, pieces of creations on the floor, empty paint tubes and pots, used rags and sweat, blood and tears. Hauger started collecting these in 2011 when she first mixed oil paint in a plastic tub, and she continued ever since, choosing to treat these objects as treasures rather than rubbish. Studio Cabinet No.1 contains a merry collection of kaleidoscopic mixing pots and rags.
